Tell Congress to Do Its Job and Protect Your Rights!
Join EFF and a broad coalition of civil liberties organizations in picking up the phone and telling Congress to protect your rights and fix their mistakes.
When the new Congress started in 2006, many Americans were hopeful that it would be serious about its responsibility to stop the Bush Administration’s abuses of power and restore the Constitution. This August, Congress caved to pressure from the President and passed the so-called “Protect America Act.” Unbelievably, Congress passed these expanded powers as the Bush administration refused to comply with subpoenas demanding the legal justification behind the NSA spying program.
Thanks to your emails, faxes, and calls, Congressional committees are now scrambling to decide on what should be in the spying law, but they're in danger of forgetting about your rights. Congress needs to disallow warrantless surveillance of Americans; Congress should not legislate in the dark without a full investigation the President's surveillance programs; and Congress should not let the phone companies off the hook. Time and time again, we've demanded that they defend our rights, but don't let them think for a second that we're not watching them: join EFF and the coalition and call your representative to demand that they fix their mistakes.
This will give you information on how to Take Action.
Let us know if you did. This is certainly an important issue for ESWoW.
