Community Call
Our Community Calls are a way for us to connect with each other, to hear each others' voices, to learn more about Ethical Culture. This week, on July 3, 2011 we will be discussing the topic of Interdependence and include in that a report and reflection on the recent AEU Assembly and how we are interconnected with the AEU and other societies.

The calls take place on the first and third Sunday of each month at 12m PT, 1pm MT, 2pm CT, and 3pm ET.  The number for the call is 866-740-1260 and the access code is 5766842#.  We ask for safety reasons that participants in our calls not drive while on our calls.  Please invite others who might be interested to join us.

Dialogue Group - from Sally Leete
The death & dying subject in the contemplative context of a Non-Theistic, Non-Supernatural perspective is absolutely fascinating. It is a piece of the human search for answers to a few basic questions: "Where did I come from?" "What happens after I die?" The other rich field of religious inquiry is, of course, "How do I choose to co-exist with other people, animals, all living things, and the Earth itself?" I'm grateful that Ethical Culture has chosen to call itself a religion, based on kindly human relations. Great perspective. Let's talk about it. What are your favorite thoughts and theories regarding the unanswerable questions? Are there any mystical traditions or bits of magical thinking that you find yourself holding onto with comfort, discomfort, pleasure or displeasure? How did you come to the convictions you hold?

As usual, our conversation may range to whatever is on our minds at the moment. Our next Dialogue Group meeting is set for Sunday, July 3rd at 2 PM Pacific, 3PM Mountain, 4PM Central and 5PM Eastern Daylight Times. The dial in number is 209.647.1000. Your access code is 689836#. Hope you can join us!

Happy Fourth of July Weekend,
Sally Leete

From the Movement
The presentation and acceptance of the Felix Adler Lifetime Achievement Award to Howard Radest.  I've enjoyed listening to Howard being introduced by Joe Chuman, and I smiled and laughed as much listening to Howard's talk the second time.  Howard shares how he came to Ethical Culture and many wonderful memories of his time in many different roles in Ethical Culture.  You can watch it here.

Yours in Ethical Community,
Susan Rose, Leader
