Dialogue Group Call- Sally Leete
We have a group discussion on Sunday, and here's a possible topic. I do so look forward to talking with y'all! You know we always cook up something worthy of our time & consideration!
The following comes from a book from the olden days, but its veracity holds true, for me at least:
* * * * Morality has to do with one's belief about what is the right or best thing to do. These can include religious traditions, lessons learned in families about right and wrong, professional codes, and so on.
* * * * Ethics is a process of reflection that aims to transcend the diversity of moral traditions when responding to value conflicts about what is right and what is wrong.
My experience with Paula (Silicon Valley Lay Leader) has introduced me to the notions that Ethics are mostly about both values and relationships. This shifts the dynamics completely, and I love the direction it takes us.
Meanwhile, I want to entertain you with this lovely idea: Relationships, like life, are a balance of give and take. If your listening doesn't equal approximately 50%, you are talking too much!
As you may know, I had a heart procedure yesterday and am doing spectacularly well, filled with optimism. A friend wrote the following encouragement:
"I can hardly wait to see your physical health begin rising to meet your robust intellectual and ethical health."
I had never thought of ethics before in terms of health. A vital, essential factor with a checkbox that needs to be acknowledged by professional caregivers on every intake form. What do you think?
I send this to you not because I want to talk or boast about my physical being or want an answer, but because I love the concept of Ethical Health. Imagine if the world were filled with people who have Ethical Consciousness integrated into their health & fitness routines. Or their spiritual practices. Or especially their household habits as a conscious act.
We welcome you to join us this coming Sunday, August 7th, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, 3 Mountain, 4 Central and 5 Eastern, shortly following the ESWoW Community Call. Our call-in number is 209.647.1000, and our access code is 689836#.
Please join in the conversation. We'd love to have you!
Sally Leete 530.750.0400.
Yours in Ethical Community,
Susan Rose
