I am glad this course has been run, as I've had a bit of a 'Eureka!' moment.

Although I have never lost any sleep thinking about it, I have always thought that I live slightly contradictory life. I always support individual and entrepeneurial effort where I can. It seems to me that it is the main way we move forward in day-to-day life. However, and in contradiction, I am also a member of a couple of co-operatives and support working together. So, both rational selfishness and rational altruism in the same person ... strange or what?

However, could it be that rational selfishness and rational altruism are nearly the same thing? What's the difference between a delayed Rand objectivist trade and reciprocal altruism? It seems to me that this is the middle ground where egoism and altruism meet, and I can be both egoist and altruist at the same time. Eureka!

Unless, of course, you think differently ...
